Walking with Peace | SF to DC

Today, I resumed my peace walk from Ashish Joshi’s apartment in Albuquerque and reached Sedillo, a small town about 35 km away. I’ve set up my camp near the roadside for the night. My next major destination is Amarillo, Texas, which is still about 500 km away. Due to a recent illness and a twisted ankle, I’ve had to delay my journey and skip my planned walk to Santa Fe.
Two days ago, I arrived in Albuquerque, where I witnessed a heartbreaking reality—many people living on the streets, struggling with homelessness, drug addiction, and mental health challenges. It was a stark reminder of the deep-rooted issues in our society.

In the evening, I visited the Hindu Temple of New Mexico, where I was warmly welcomed by the priest and the Indian community. I am especially grateful to Ashish Joshi, a kind-hearted young man from Pune, who hosted me for two days and organized a talk at the temple. It was a wonderful opportunity to share my journey and message with everyone. Thank you to the Hindu Temple Society of New Mexico, Ashish Joshi, and Yagnesh Pathak ji for your generous support.
Over the past few days, I’ve been walking alongside the Rio Grande, where most of the population in this region is settled. People in New Mexico have been incredibly kind—many waved at me, stopped their cars to offer water, and shared words of encouragement.
Today, I felt much better walking with my healing ankle. I plan to keep my daily distance between 35–40 km over the next few days to allow for a full recovery.
April was a challenging month on the road, but the kindness and care of so many amazing people gave me the strength to keep going. I’m deeply thankful to the universe for this journey and to each of you for your continued love and support.
With gratitude and love,
S. Nitin😇🙏
