San Francisco to Washington, D.C.
Walking with Peace

On February 17th, I began my walk from Bakersfield to Los Angeles. Most of the time, I rely on Google Maps to create my route, occasionally making changes based on local advice.

On February 18th, I reached the base of a mountain, planning to take a three-day route through the hills. As I approached the entrance, a car stopped, and the driver asked where I was headed. I explained that I was walking to Los Angeles through that area. He introduced himself as Cody and told me that the entire mountain range belonged to Tejon Ranch—a massive 400-square-mile private property. There was no way to walk through it. Cody, who works with the ranch, advised me to go through Lebec instead. Since he was from the same town, he kindly gave me a ride there, where I found a good route to continue my walk toward LA.
For three nights, I camped in my tent. On the third night, I was welcomed into the home of two wonderful ladies in Lake Elizabeth. Char, a 78-year-old woman with an incredible spirit, invited me to stay at her place in Santa Clarita. Last night, I stayed at her home, where she introduced me to her friend Sharan. We had a beautiful evening filled with meaningful conversations, and there was much to learn from both of them.
Now, I continue walking toward downtown Los Angeles. It will take me two more days to reach the city center.
If you know anyone in this area let me know.
